Summary

Ziggy is turning 12 soon - that's a "Senior" according to the chart at the vet. While he is slowing down, he can still tear out the doggy door when he sees a deer in our backyard. The deer have learned to simply ignore Ziggy. And, Ziggy has learned the hard way to not get too close to the deer. So, we just have put up with some barking until the deer grows tired of taunting Ziggy and decides to walk away. Since the deer eventually leaves, Ziggy feels that he's done his job. By the way, a previous Dachshund of our (Crazy King Ludwig) once participated in an actual Dachshund race. One thing I learned - Dachshunds can care less about races. Some just sat down. Some went to sniff other dogs. Some went over to sniff all the people on the sidelines. All this while the owners yelled and screamed at the finish line to try to get their Dachshund to cross over it. It probably took ten minutes to finally get a winner (not Ludwig) for a race that was perhaps twenty yards long.
